Thaliparamb is the one of the kerala legislative assembly segment in kannur district. in 2011 Legislative assembly Mr. James Mathew win from Thaliparamba with the margin of 27861 Votes. He was the candidate of Communist Party of India (Marxist) which is the part of LDF. Mr. Job Michael was the runner-up. he was the Candidate of Kerala Congress(Mani) which is the part of UDF. The National Democratic Alliance (BJP) Candidate Mr. K Jayaprakash got 6492 votes with third place and Social Democratic Party of India Candidate scored 1930 Votes with Fourth place. BSP candidate Nidheesh thillankeri also participate the election (927 Votes)
In 2014 LDF candidate (CPIM) P.K Sreemathi teacher got 1st place with 78,922 votes and K Sudhakaran , UDF - INC candidate got 64703 votes (2nd), NDA-BJP Candidate P.C Mohanan master scored 6793 votes(3rd place) Social Democratic Party of India Candidate Mr. K.K Abdul Jabbar (4th place with 1630 Votes) Aam Aadmi Candidate Sasidharan K.V (5th place with 733 Votes) Bahujan Samaj Party Candidate Abdulla Davud (302 votes), Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Red star candidate P.P. Aboobacker (220 Votes).
