Thalassery is the one of the Legislative assembly constituency in kannur district, Kerala state. It is the part of Vatakara Loksabha constituency. In 2011 Kerala Legislative assembly election Communist Party of India(Marxist) Candidate (LDF) Mr. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan elected from the Thalassery LAC with the margin of 26509 Votes. Indian National Congress Candidate (UDF) Rijil Mathew became runner up. Bharatiya Janata Party Candidate (NDA) V. Ratnakaran got third place with 6973 Votes. Social Democratic Party of India Candidate got fourth place with 2068 Votes. Bahujan Samaj Party Candidate got 674 Votes.
In 2014 India General Election Communist Party of India (Marxist) - LDF candidate AN Shamseer got first place from Thalassery LAC. Indian National Congress-UDF Candidate Mullappally Ramachandran (2nd). Bharathiya Janata Party-NDA Candidate V.K. Sajeevan (3rd place), Social Democratic Party of India Candidate P. Abdul Hameed Master (4th Place), Revalutionary Marxist Party Candidate Adv. P Kumarankutty (5th Place), Aam Admi Party Candidate Ali Akbar (6th Place), Bahujan Samaj Party Candidate Saseendran and Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist)Red Star Candidate A.M Smitha.
