The 1957 General election was the second loksabha election. It was held from 24th February from 14th March. under the leadership of Jawaharlal Nehru, the Indian National Congress was easily won a second term. Indian National Congress won 371 seats out of 494 seats and secured 47.78% of total polled vote share. Communist Party of India was the second largest party. CPI won 27 seats with 8.92% vote share.
