In 2006, the state assembly elections, in 2006, a series of state assembly elections, scheduled to occur in three phases. Left Democratic Front won 99 seats. Left Democratic Front led by the Communist Party of India (Marxist). Another is the power of the Communist Party of India and the Left Democratic Front. United Democratic Front could win 41 seats in the front and the other in the state. The United Democratic Front led by the Indian National Congress. Muslim League Kerala State Committee is part of the United Democratic Front.
15542286 people have voted for the 2006 Assembly elections. It was the Left Democratic Front 7558832 votes. 48.63 percent of the votes recorded. The main rival of the United Democratic Front 6679557 (42.98%) were the votes. The National Democratic Alliance scored 750963 votes, but they could not win.
In 2006, the 140 contested seats 931 people. The BJP has fielded more people in 136 constituencies. 107 seats are being contested by the BSP. That is, they have got 106619 votes. Only 0.69 per cent.85 contested seats, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) 4732381 votes, 30.45 percent. 77 seats contested in the Indian National Congress (I) 3744784 votes (24.09 percent). Communist Party of India scored 1257422 votes from 24 seats (8.09%).Indian Union Muslim League scored 1135098 votes from 21 seats. (7.30%). Revalutionary socialist part, kerala congress, janata dal(secular) , (united) Indian national league, Democratic indira congress, communist marxist party. and so many other parties also contested in 2006 legislative assembly election kerala.
In 2006 assembly election, Mr.M Chandran won by the highest margin in the state, he won by 47671 votes, he was contested from Alathur assembly constituency. Mr. Mankode Radhakrishnan was won by lowest margin. he won by 85 votes from Nedumangad assemby constituency.
Mr V.S Achuthananthan (CPIM) was the Chief minister (2006 to 2011) he was won from Malampuzha assembly constituency. he was beat opposite candidate Mr. Satheeshan Pacheni by marigin of 20017 votes. Mr. Oommen chandy was the opposit leader (INC). he was won from puthuppally constituency by the marigin of 19863 votes. he was beat opposite candidate Sindhu Joy (CPIM).
